Zurich’s Group Spouse/Partner Life Insurance cover has been launched for its corporate risk customers and offers simple term life cover for spouses and civil and dependent partners as part of a voluntary scheme arrangement. The plan offers cover in units up to a maximum of £250,000 and cover can last to age 75. A simplified acceptance process, with a short application form should make applying for cover as simple as possible. Zurich’s Investment Life Cover is a new type of life cover, written over five years and aimed at its retail platform customers only. The plan pays out on death an amount that is the difference between what someone has invested onto Zurich’s retail platform, less any withdrawals made since then, and its value on their death. For example, if an investor invested £200,000 and its value fell to £180,000 when they died, the plan would pay out £20,000 (assuming they had taken nothing out in the meantime). A modular plan, Choices comprises a core plan, which essentially just covers inpatient treatment and other core benefits. In effect, ECIS is offering its Radiant plans tailored for ECIS. Five different versions are available to meet benefit and budget needs. Aviva has improved its existing critical illness cover, with the following changes applied to all new policies from 9 December 2013: • The definitions of stroke and multiple sclerosis have been widened to pay out on more claims.
