Care Plus Master International
Care Plus is the leading premium health insurance company in Brazil, having been founded 25 years ago and was acquired by Bupa Global in December 2016.
Master International is an international private medical insurance (iPMI) plan that allows organisations to offer their employees healthcare around the world. Customers can access healthcare through Blue Cross Blue Shield Global in the USA and through Bupa Global outside the USA.
The plan is available to Care Plus’s existing clients with its Master I plan (around 35% of its customers), and to new customers with compatible plans and an additional 2,000 new customers are expected by the end of 2018.
Although the Brazilian website sets out the schedule of benefits in Portuguese, we have not listed them in English (just in case we get the translation wrong!) but a simple translation (we used https://www.freetranslation.com/en/translate-english-portuguese) shows coverage should meet the needs of many employers in Brazil. Most of the benefits listed are full refund, with some annual financial and reasonable treatment limits on some of the plan’s benefits such as physiotherapy.
Comment: This is the first Brazilian product we have reviewed but Brazil is a fast growing economy so it may well not be the last. Bupa bought Care Plus in 2016 to get access to the Brazilian market and this plan represents an indication of the potential growing forward. The website is in Portuguese so we have had to rely on an internet translation but the plan looks to offer the right kind of coverage that should appeal to Brazilian employers (but do check!).
