Collinson SmartHealth International
Global customer benefits and loyalty company, Collinson, has launched an international healthcare plan, Collinson SmartHealth™ International, in Nairobi, Kenya. The solution is delivered in partnership with Kenbright, a leading medical insurance provider in Kenya.
The product offers a suite of affordable health insurance products aimed at Kenyan companies, wanting to protect and give peace of mind to employees and their families.
Employees and their families can flexibly access international medical advice, treatment and support, whenever it is needed, through a global network of health providers and in-house medical assistance 24/7, with each case individually managed and assessed by Collinson’s medical team. Plans can include wellness, optical, dental and medical second opinion and traveller support services and can be tailored to individual company requirements and budgets.
Collinson says it believes there is a significant opportunity to enhance the way international healthcare propositions are delivered. This includes additional benefits such as digital doctor services, international medical second opinion and traveller support services accessing Collinson’s global lounge network and security and medical advice when travelling.
Comment: Traditionally, health insurance has focused on just paying for treatment but that is changing, to embrace wider health and wellness-related services as well as travel support and concierge services. Indeed, in a recent survey, preventative and wellbeing and digital doctor services were rated attractive by 82% of the 252 affluent Kenyans polled, Collinson says.
This plan helps meet that need by offering health insurance with a range of practical benefits, available globally. Collinson also says 42% of people would be prepared to travel outside Kenya for treatment, so global services can be valuable not just to those working outside the country. Collinson says it envisages offering the plan in other countries in the region later, partnering with local insurers, as well as building in its wider travel, assistance and insurance products and loyalty solutions.
It adds up to a powerful range of benefits that we would expect to appeal beyond Kenya too in due course.
Plus points: Add-on benefits available to Kenyans; Global benefits; Offered by an established names; Range of options.
Not so plus points: Currently only available to Kenyan firms for their employees; Niche market for most brokers.
