Seguros Bolivar international health plans
Colombian insurance company Seguros Bolivar has launched a portfolio of international health plans in Colombia in partnership with Bupa Global and Blue Cross Blue Shield Global.
The plans are tiered on coverage and price and are designed to meet the needs of globally-minded, globally mobile customers. Customers also have access to the Bupa Global worldwide health network offering.
Javier Suarez, president of Seguros Bolivar, said the portfolio of plans will give Colombian customers access to the highest quality healthcare, wherever and whenever they need it, while Moses Dodo, general manager for Bupa Global Latin America, said customers are looking for simplicity and flexibility in global health plans.
The products provide in-hospital and outpatient care; health checks; mental and holistic therapies; evacuation; treatment for cancer and other serious illnesses for as long as needed; cover for hereditary, congenital and chronic conditions; and transplants and rehabilitation.
Comment: Just a brief review, but these plans follow the growing trend of cover through a local insurer, backed by strong international connections (important for scale and expertise as well as the fact that business is often now cross-border).
In this case, the territory is Colombia and the local insurer – Seguros Bolivar – has teamed with Bupa and Blue Cross Blue Shield. The latter points out this is its tenth country launch of co-branded health plans.
Many brokers will understandably have no experience of the Colombian health insurance sector but, if you have a client looking to move to that country, this should be on your shortlist. Seguros Bolivar offers cover choices, simplicity, local expertise and strong international connections too.
