Aviva International Solutions  From 1 February 2014, Aviva is bringing in a number of changes to its International Solutions international private medical insurance (iPMI) plan, for both new and existing customers. The main changes being introduced are: • Global regions for pricing have been cut from six to two. The two are Worldwide and Worldwide (excluding USA and Caribbean). • A new Gulf Solutions policy is available for group customers in Kuwait, Oman, Qatar or the United Arab Emirates (UAE). February 2014 April UK: PMI

April UK has teamed with hospital group Spire Healthcare to introduce inSpire, a private medical insurance (PMI) plan for individuals and families aged 16-74. Launched on 14 January, it provides insured private healthcare at all 38 Spire hospitals across the UK. One cover level – comprehensive – is available. This covers all in, day and outpatient care with no mandatory excess, although a £100 excess (per person per policy year) is available to reduce premiums. As part of its latest annual review, Allianz has introduced various revisions to its standard plans, which are available to both individuals and to groups. The key changes are: • Palliative and long term care (LTC) cover has been extended. Palliative care now covers all costs for an unlimited number of days. Previously a maximum of 30 days a year benefit was provided. Aegon Critical Illness cover Aegon has undertaken a review of its existing critical illness insurance cover and has introduced: • One new condition has been added, taking the total number of conditions covered to 43. The new condition is cardiac arrest. • In addition there are now 11 partial sum insured benefits, including a ‘unique’ benefit for specified specific fractures. LV=‘s LifeTime+ is its whole of life plan. The plan has just been enhanced in two main ways: First, LV= will now pay out on diagnosis of a terminal illness or on death. A diagnosis that the life insured is not likely to live beyond 12 months is required. On joint life second death plans, the sum insured is payable on the terminal illness of the second life, after the first life has died or has been diagnosed as terminally ill.
