Pulse usually works directly with a specialist underwriter at Lloyd’s and/or with FCA regulated UK insurers. Legal & General (L&G) has added a number of new support services to its group critical illness (CI) cover products. The enhancements are available at no extra cost and are provided through L&G’s partnership with healthcare services provider MEDIGO. The new add-ons are: A second medical opinion. Aetna International has partnered with Wysa – to offer a free mental health wellbeing app to its international medical insurance customers. Launched during the Covid-19 crisis, the timing is particularly appropriate, as people struggle to deal with new situations and do so without the support of traditional non-distancing help. The app is on top of recently enhanced member resources including the virtual health offering vHealth and the Aetna EAP (employee assistance programme). Underwritten by MGEN, with claims administered by Medical Administrators International (MAI), Integra Global has launched two new international health plans (iPMI). Both are available for individuals and for groups. The basic plan, InCare Life, includes comprehensive hospitalisation and rehabilitation benefits, plus 24/7 emergency medical assistance, life cover and mental health benefits. The maximum annual and lifetime benefit is $1m. May 2020 Aegon: IP
Aegon UK has updated its income protection proposition and the main change is a new two year option on its personal and executive income protection plans. In addition, the insurer has improved the personal IP replacement ratio from a flat 55% to a tiered ratio based on income. There is a lump sum death payment of £5,000 now on personal IP plans too.
