What was the first record/CD you can remember buying?
Thin Lizzy….Live and Dangerous. Double LP when “ live “ albums were still a thing. Still amazing to this day.
What is your biggest pet hate about the world of financial services?
Lifetime achievement awards! Seriously though my biggest one would be over long meetings. I know that’s not just financial services, by the way. Zoom/Teams tech has not made long meetings go away. I realise I have low attention span and everyone else in the room is probably OK, though.
What is your favourite film/book, and why?
Saving Private Ryan. The first 30 minutes are a gruesome but realistic depiction of war and why we should avoid a repeat.
If you could pick any job in the world to do, what would it be?
Pro Golfer. I am delusional!
If you could change one thing about the protection market overnight, what would you do?
I hate over regulation but I would make it just about impossible for advisers to easily dodge the protection conversation.
Bonus: What are your thoughts on winning the Lifetime Achievement Award at Protection Review 2021?
Roger Edwards knows how shocked I was, especially as I had been joking with him at the Awards dinner table about preparing an acceptance speech. I sincerely had zero expectation that my name would even be in the frame. But I am so grateful for the recognition from my peers. Really means a lot and I now have supporting evidence for my constant assertion to my grandkids of being a legend!
