Our last poll asked “Should the UK adopt a compulsory non-contestability period (i.e. a period after which an insurer cannot turn down a claim for non-disclosure) on protection insurance policies? If so, what should that period be?” Respondents were given options of 2 years, 5 years, 10 years and No, it’s not necessary. The most popular answer was No, a non-contestability period was not necessary, selected by 43% of respondents. Of those who thought a non-contestability period was necessary, 5 years was the period most likely to be selected, chosen by 32% of respondents.
