1. What was the first record/CD/download you can remember buying?
The first record I ever remember buying with my own money was the 7” single of Do They Know It’s Christmas? by Band Aid in 1984. The first CD I owned was Graceland by Paul Simon.
2. What is your biggest pet hate about the world of financial services?
I think we spend so much time talking to each other that we forget what it’s like to live outside that professional bubble. So products don’t always feel designed for people and communications don’t sound enough like people talking. I don’t think it’s a pet hate really though - it’s become a mission for me to make protection more meaningful. That’s good for the clients I work with (who want to engage as many people as possible ). But it’s good for society too - the more people feel like they can join the conversation, the more resilient we’ll all become.
3. What is your favourite film, and why?
My favourite film is The Muppet Christmas Carol. Why? Because it’s the best Dickens adaptation, the best Michael Caine film, one of the best ever film musicals, and it has Muppets in it.
4. If you could pick any job in the world to do, what would you choose?
I could cheerfully sit in recording studios and make albums forever.
5. If you could change one thing overnight about the protection industry, what would it be?
The way it talks, of course.
