What was the first record/CD you can remember buying? Rather embarrassingly the first single I owned (and I distinctly remember proudly writing my name on the sleeve) was ‘The land of make believe’ by Bucks Fizz! I was very young at the time then forgot about music for a number of years before spending my first ever pocket money on ‘Appetite for Destruction’ by Guns N Roses (On Cassette Tape!) , much cooler and a classic album to this day. 1. What was the first record/CD you can remember buying? Band Aid – Do they know its Christmas? (obviously the re-release, the original would make me too old) 2. What is your biggest pet hate about the world of financial services? It’s still very male dominated. Whilst things have got so much better over the last few years, I’m still regularly the only female on an industry event dinner table or at an industry social event. 1. What was the first record/CD you can remember buying? I grew up in a village where music was a strong tradition, and so a big part of my childhood. There were 9 choirs for a population of 6,000! I loved Mozart’s music (still do!), and bought some of his piano works early on. 2. What is your biggest pet hate about the world of financial services? What was the first record/CD/download you can remember buying? ‘Protection’ by Massive Attack… if only!? It was actually a tape – ‘Wannabe’ by Spice Girls. An odd choice for a 12 year old boy, but I don’t regret a thing (honest). The first vinyl record I ever bought was Gala ‘Freed From Desire’, which even today is a certified banger. 1. What was the first record/CD/download you can remember buying? I wish I could say it was something like Metallica or AC/DC but actually the first CD I ever owned was George Formby's 'When I'm cleaning Windows', but not by choice, my grandparents bought for me saying it was a classic.
