Phil Veale of Chiltern Consulting suggests that when the going gets tough the tough get going!

by ProtectionReview 25/09/12

When the going gets tough   It’s a difficult time for most Providers. There are significant current and potential changes in the industry. We have RDR, MMR, Solvency 2, Gender-neutral pricing, Auto enrolment and NEST, for example. Change can be seen as an opportunity or threat. How we deal with the situation is key.You can be revolutionary or reactionary. In my view sitting back and waiting for situations to evolve should not be an option. At the least it shows a lack of imagination, and also allows others to gain competitive advantage. Situations, particularly in our industry it seems, will…

Peter Chadborn urges you to restrain yourself, in the digital sense.

by ProtectionReview 11/09/12

Digital embargo  With holiday season over for most of us, post-holiday sentiment seemingly ranges from; “refreshed and raring to go” to “holiday? What holiday?” I generally sit in the former camp and I’m convinced this is because of my self-imposed digital detachment which sees me switch off email and set everything to voicemail whilst abroard. No twitter, no linkedin, no facebook, no pinterest, no newspapers, no TV, no DVDs. Furthermore, this embargo is extended to the family. IPod games are fine, but that’s it. These words…

by ProtectionReview 28/08/12

So many things to think about! The next few months may prove to be just about the most tumultuous in the history of retail financial services and protection insurance is certainly not immune from the turmoil. First the market faces direct changes. The gender directive is the most immediate with providers expected to start coming out with their new single gender priced insurance offerings in the next few weeks. We will soon know what it really means for pricing and how that compares with a gender priced market. The taxation changes – the end of the now almost famous income…

Karin Lloyd wonders whether there might be an Olympic legacy for the Protection Industry?

by ProtectionReview 14/08/12

I have to admit that being asked to write a blog in the middle of a home Olympics induced a certain panic – I mean, where do you find the time between the dressage and the Greco-Roman wrestling?  Now that we have time for a breather before the Paralympics kicks off, it’s a great time to reflect on what inspiration we can take for our own industry to make us faster, higher, stronger.  One of the things that’s been universally praised is the way that the volunteers have expressed the spirit of friendliness and embraced problems with a smile and…
