The Hidden Jewel ………… Is terminal illness benefit underrated, underutilised, or under-priced? I understand insurers are facing challenges in pricing for terminal illness cover (TI), which has led to questions such as; should it remain part of a life cover product and/or should the length of time for a claim be reduced? A question arose recently as part of a co-presentation I was delivering at The Health & Care Conference and it related to the high number of applications not taken up when a counter-offer is made to a protection application. Is consolidation good for consumers? This is a question that has been asked many times but always, it seems, big is better. Innocent Drinks, Ben & Jerry’s, Body Shop and Green & Black’s chocolate have all been taken into the larger corporate fold. Did the consumer benefit?
